The Choral Program at Oak Hammock Middle School consists of three levels of chorus: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced. Each group will be expected to perform in front of an audience consisting of the school community, family members, and local community performances. Music theory and music reading are part of the expectations for all three levels of chorus. All incoming 6th graders will start in Chorus 1 and choral placement in 7th grade will be dependent upon performance throughout the student’s 6th grade year.
Chorus An introduction to vocal music, including terms, rhythm, note values and basic notation to strengthen vocal skills.
Advanced Chorus (Teacher Recommendation) Students build upon previous choral experiences to expand vocal, technical, musical and ensemble skills. Public performances will be required.
