Oak Hammock Middle School Dismissal Procedures
Student Dismissal is at 4:00 PM. Please choose one main way your child will go home: Parent Pick Up, Walker, Bus, or After School Activity/Tutoring. Many students take advantage of our afterschool activities, intramurals, and tutoring. Communicate with your child each morning if your child will be staying after school for an activity. If you need to make changes to the way your child will go home, please call the front office before 3:30 pm. Please do not email staff with dismissal changes, as they may not see the message in time.
Bus Riders
Students riding the bus must ride their designated bus to and from school. In the event a student needs to ride another bus home, the request must be in writing and provided to the front office by 10:00 that same morning. Office staff will call to inform the parent/guardian if the request is approved or denied. Requests will only be approved according to district guidelines.
Walkers
Walkers will be dismissed first. Walkers and bike riders are to leave through the back of the school or the bus ramp exits before 4:15 pm. Students on campus after this time without permission will be disciplined accordingly.
Parent Pick-Up Procedures
- Parent Pick-up ends at 4:30.
- Drop off and pick up your student along the sidewalk adjacent to the front of the building.
- Parents are required to show their PPU Tag (QR Code) to pick up the student.
- There is no parking at Manatee Elementary or in the grass between the two schools.
- For safety purposes, students will not be allowed to walk to another location to get in a car.
Afterschool Activities and Tutoring
OHMS offers many afterschool activities, intramurals, and tutoring Monday through Thursday. All activities end at 5:15. An activities and tutoring calendar will be available on our website. Students attending an afterschool event must be picked up by 5:30. The school also provides activity buses that will drop your child off at a designated stop near your house. The activity bus route will be available during the second week of school.
