Principal's Message

Osprey Families,

I am deeply honored to continue serving as the principal of Oak Hammock Middle School. Reflecting on my journey with this incredible school community, I am reminded of the passion I developed for our students, staff, and families while teaching here from 2011-2016. My time at Oak Hammock, teaching math across grade levels and serving as a Math Teacher Leader, laid the foundation for my commitment to our school community. After spending six years at Estero High School as a teacher and assistant principal, returning to Oak Hammock has been both a privilege and a homecoming.

The consistent growth and accomplishments our school has achieved in recent years inspire me to build on that momentum. As we move forward, I want to emphasize our commitment to the R.I.S.E. expectations of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. These values form the cornerstone of who we are as a school community and guide everything we do. Respect reminds us to value one another’s differences and create an inclusive environment. Integrity encourages us to make the right choices, even when no one is watching. Service inspires us to give back to our school and our community, fostering a sense of purpose and connection. Excellence challenges us to continually strive for our best in academics, character, and relationships. Together, we will "RISE UP" and uphold these expectations, ensuring that every student is equipped to face the future with confidence and resilience.

As we embrace the challenges and opportunities of this academic year, I am excited to deepen our work together. At Oak Hammock, our mission is to provide a safe, respectful, and rigorous learning environment where every student can reach their highest potential. Achieving this mission requires the collective efforts of teachers, staff, students, parents, and community members. I am committed to strengthening these partnerships so that every student who walks through our doors leaves better prepared for a bright future.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration. Let’s make this year another incredible chapter in Oak Hammock’s story of growth and success.

Warm regards,
David Howdyshell
Principal, Oak Hammock Middle School
